Online furniture retailer 1StopBedrooms was named to Newsweek’s Best Online Shops for the second straight year.
This honor, bestowed upon only 1,000 online shops across the web, names shops that offer “a first-rate consumer experience,” according to Newsweek.
Newsweek worked with global data-research firm Statista to create their 2021 Best Online Shops list, which recognized the 1,000 shops across 39 categories in eight groups. Shops in the Home Living group— which the Furniture category is a part of — scored the highest on average, which is great news for the industry overall.
How the list was composed
To create the final Best Online Shops list, a preliminary list of more than 9,500 online shops in the United States was compiled using Statista and online databases, online directories and price comparison websites to identify the most relevant online shops. The online shops with the most American visitors in 2020 were selected as candidates for further evaluation.
Each of these shops was then evaluated based on seven “dimensions,” including:
- Trust and Security: layout, company information, SSL
- Structure & Usability: web page design, search bar, product display
- Payment: accepted payment methods
- Purchase & Delivery: shipping costs, returns, purchasing process
- Service & Communication: contact information, hotline, FAQ’s, mobile
- Technical Details: median load time, bounce rate, page views per visit, upstream
- Likelihood of Purchase: median load time, bounce rate, page views per visit, upstream
From this evaluation, in conjunction with an online survey of more than 8,000 U.S. online shoppers that asked questions about the shop’s quality of look, ease of use and the individual’s purchase history with the shop, a score out of 10 was determined for each store. 1StopBedrooms received a score of 7.73 in 2021, up from 7.60 in 2020.
The 1,000 shops with the highest score made the Best Online Shops list and were featured on Newsweek’s website, while the top 5, 10 or 20 per category were selected for the print edition. In the other categories, brands like Nordstrom Rack, Sephora, Apple and AutoZone made the list in their respective categories, so 1StopBedrooms is in great company.
